UPDATE: Blizzard Conditions Expected

National Weather Service upgrades storm, predicts 12 to 18 inches.

The season's first snow storm is now expected to produce blizzard-like conditions Sunday throughout much of New Jersey with heavy snow, limited visibility and strong winds.

The National Weather Service cancelled its winter storm warning and has issued a blizzard warning from Sunday morning at 7 a.m., and lasting through Monday at 1 p.m.

The Chatham Township Police Department issued a Nixle alert Sunday afternoon, discouraging travel during the storm.

The storm is expected to dump between 12 and 18 inches of snow across the state. The storm is expected to be most intense Sunday between noon and midnight. 

Northerly winds will increase to 20 to 30 miles per hour and gust to more than 40 miles per hour at times, according to the National Weather Service.

Visibility will be reduced to one-quarter mile due to blowing and drifting snow, making traveling hazardous at times, according to the National Weather Service.
