Race to the Middle School to See 'Race to Nowhere'

Did you know that there is a movie showing at Chatham Middle School? Did you know that the Township Committee is meeting? Did you know that you can learn all about these things and more by reading the Five Things You Need to Know Today column?

  1. You need to know about meetings in the township: The Chatham Township Committee meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the .
  2. You need to know about documentary screenings: The documentary "Race to Nowhere" will at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. After the film there will be a panel discussion with psychologists and local school administrators.
  3. You need to know about borough meetings: The Community Garden Committee and the Farmer's Market Committee meet tonight at the at 7:30 p.m.
  4. You need to know about wine tasting: The Chatham and Madison Kiwanis Clubs will hold a “Wines from Around the World" Wine Tasting event tonight at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit Kiwanis' scholarships for Chatham and Madison High Schools, and the ECLC Foundation for Developmentally Disabled. The event will be at Grace Episcopal Church at 4 Madison Ave. in Madison. For tickets, go to the Chatham Kiwanis website, call (973) 635-7779 or (973) 635-1705 (ext. 17) or send an e-mail to Chatham-Kiwanis@comcast.net. Tickets will also be available at the door for $60.
  5. You need to know about girls and engineering: Feb. 24 is Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, a day in which all those who are able should, well, introduce a girl to engineering. This is easier done than one might think: Engineering affects multiple aspects of every-day life, from the position of electric poles on your street to city planning. If, however, you find that explaining all this to a young girl is above your skill level, you can always just buy her a model train kit.
