Update: Power Restored in the Borough

Jersey Central Power and Light crews fixed a fallen power line that caused outages on Friday afternoon.

UPDATED 1:46 p.m.: Power was restored to the Borough at 1:40 p.m. this afternoon following a downed power line which fell from a pole over the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and Watchung Avenue at approximately 12:15 p.m.

The Borough Municipal Building on Fairmount Avenue was one of several places in town affected by the outage. The Municipal Building was without power for approximately two minutes before the generator kicked in.

Most of Main Street was unaffected. The Township did receive calls from the Borough regarding the outage, but did not suffer any outages directly.

Jersey Central Power and Light crews and Borough Police were on the scene within 30 minutes of the outage and predicted it would take at least an hour and a half to restore power.
