Police Arrest 4 on 2 Separate Marijuana Incidents

arrested several teens for marijuana possession in two separate incidents since Saturday.

At 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Patrolmen Wayne Shivers and Michael Permison were operating radar on Kings Road when they observed a car drive by with the driver talking on a cell phone, police said.

The two patrolmen stopped the 2010 Nissan and identified the driver as Thomas A. Sperduto, 22, of Newton, according to police.

While speaking to the driver, Shivers detected the odor of marijuana on his clothing, police said.

Sperduto admitted to having a marijuana pipe or ‘bowl’ in the car and turned it over to the police, according to a statement from police released Friday.

Further checks of Sperduto revealed that his license was suspended and he had two outstanding failure to appear warrants from Roxbury and Stillwater, police said.

Sperduto was placed under arrest and brought to headquarters for processing, according to police.

He was charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia with bail set at $1,500 with a 10 percent option, police said.

He was also charged on motor vehicle summonses with operating a vehicle while using a cellular phone and driving while suspended, according to police.

Sperduto posted $500 on the Roxbury warrant, $250 on the Stillwater warrant and $150 on the Chatham warrant and was released pending further court action.

Three Youths Found with Marijuana

On Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 1:56 PM, patrols responded to the area of Rowan Road and Jackson Avenue on a report of three suspicious teenage males entering the woods and possibly heading towards the Triborough Bridge, police said.

Patrolmen Shivers and Jayson Cittrich spotted the suspects, who immediately ran from the officers heading towards Brooklake Road, according to police.

With the assistance of Florham Park Police, all three individuals were located and taken into custody, police said.

The three suspects are identified as: Dylan F. Conmy, 21, of Morris Township; Christopher Velasquez, 18, of Chatham Borough; and a 17-year-old juvenile from Chatham Borough, according to police.

As a result of this investigation Conmy was charged with the following: Possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, obstruction and trespassing, police said. Velasquez was charged with obstruction and trespassing, according to police.

Both were charged on a summons and released pending further court action, according to police. The juvenile was released to a parent pending investigation by the Juvenile Detective, police said.
