Planning, Councils and Seven Billion Actions

And other essential information for July 11, 2011.

Yes, it's hot outside, but it's not entirely unbearable. In fact, the National Weather Service predicts a high of 92 with a breeze of between 7 and 10 mph. If, however, you still find this too much, you can always look through the Five Things You Need to Know Today to find ways to spend the day indoors:

  1. You need to know about lifting weights: The weight room at Chatham High School will be open Monday from 10 a.m. to noon.
  2. You need to know about being crafty: Is your child a reincarnation of Martha Stewart? Take them to the craft session at the Library of the Chathams Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. to find out.
  3. You need to know about planning: The Chatham Township Planning Board meets Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Township Municipal Building.
  4. You need to know about the Chatham Borough Council: The council meets Monday 7:30 p.m. at the borough’s municipal building.
  5. You need to know about the world’s population: The United Nations Population Fund holds World Population Day each year on July 11. The holiday is meant to explore population trends around the world and examine related issues. With the world’s population expected to surpass seven billion this year, the UNFPA’s campaign for this year is called Seven Billion Actions. Check out the World Population Day 2011 website to learn more.
