Learn About the Meadowlands

There are lots of activities in the area for kids and adults this weekend.

Here's a look at what's happening this weekend in the Chatham area:


Where/When:  on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: Because the film is about the Hackensack Meadowlands, and shows how the wetlands in America have been settled or destroyed since European settlers first arrived. The film will be followed by a discussion.
Pricing: Free


Where/When: on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Why Go: This concert with the former Peter, Paul and Mary band member also features his daughter Bethany Yarrow and cellist Rufus Cappadocia, should be full of folk favorites.

Where/When: At the  on Friday from 12:15 to 12:55 p.m.
Why Go: Because pianist Jonathan Comisar and vocalist Galit Dadoun will perform Sephardi and Israeli folk. And, lunch will be available by Morristown caterers C’est Cheese.

Where/When:  in Morris Township on Friday from 7 to 10 p.m.
Why Go: Because the party will have a boardwalk theme, a Bruce Springsteen cover band and refreshments.

Where/When:  in Morristown on Friday at 8 p.m.
Why Go: Because Orlando has been performing for nearly four decades and will sing some of his fan’s favorites, including “Knock Three Times.”
Pricing: Ranges from $42 to $77.

Why Go: Because all ages can work together to solve nature riddles.

Why Go: Because children between ages 5 to 8 with their parents or guardians can choose a plot and help farmers plant peas and potatoes.

Why Go: Because classic cartoons will be shown on the big screen at the Bickford Theatre.
Pricing: Admission to the museum is $10 for adults, $7 for children and seniors, free for children younger than three.

Why Go: “Planet Earth: Jungles” will be shown on the big screen in the Bickford Theatre.

Where/When:  in Morris Township on Saturday, 2 p.m.
Why Go: Because children ages 5 and older can learn the scientific method through hands-on experience.
Pricing: Free for museum members, $3 plus museum admission for non-members.
