Lacrosse Plays in State Games, Baseball in Regular Season

And other essential information for Wednesday, June 1.

Residents of the Chathams may want to bring an umbrella as they leave their homes Wednesday, and they may also want to forego Wednesday's unusual holiday. To find out why, check out the Five Things You Need to Know Today:

  1. You need to know about music and theater: The Music and Theatre Boosters meet Wednesday at 6 p.m.
  2. You need to know about sports: The boys varsity lacrosse team plays against Summit in the NJSIAA tournament Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Ridge High School, and the boys varsity baseball team takes on Parsippany High School at Chatham High at 4 p.m.
  3. You need to know about planning: The Chatham Borough Planning Board was scheduled to meet Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., but according to the borough calendar the meeting has been canceled.
  4. You need to know about art: is having its arts show Wednesday at 7 p.m.
  5. You need to know about summer attire: June 1 is National Go Barefoot Day, which could work out well if you go to cheer on the boys lacrosse or baseball team, but will probably get you refused service at Chatham restaurants. In fact, since the National Weather Service predicting a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms Wednesday, it might be worth just foregoing this particular zany holiday.

For other information worth knowing, see the Chatham Patch events calendar and announcements section—and if you've got something the community should know, don't forget to make a post of your own in one or both of those site sections.
