Handicapped Placard Stolen From Car at ShopRite

Police say car windows were down when theft happened.

A handicapped placard was reported stolen from inside a vehicle parked by ShopRite in Chatham Township Saturday, according to township police.

Police said Theresa McDevitt, of the township, reported the placard had been stolen. She said she went into the grocery store with her niece, Phyllis Walsh of Florham Park, Saturday at about 3:14 p.m. after hanging the placard on the rearview mirror, according to police. Police said they left the car windows down.

When they returned to the car, police said, the placard was missing.
