Five-Day Weekend for Chatham School Kids

Everything you need to know to get you through your Friday.

Even though ther weather is getting warmer, winter sports are still going strong. Tickets are still available for tournament and regular games this weekend. If you want to know what games you can go to, just check out the five things you need to know today:

  1. You need to know about school: There is none! Schools are closed today for winter recess, and Monday for President's Day and Tuesday for winter recess.
  2. You need to know where to buy stuff: Head over to the at Chatham United Methodist Church. You can be green by repurposing items instead of buying new ones, and save green at the same time.
  3. You need to know about sports: The boys' wrestling wrestles today in the NJSIAA District X Tournament at Millburn High School at 4 p.m.; the girls varsity basketball team takes on Jefferson in the Morris County Tournament at 4 p.m.; the girls varsity swim team competes against Millburn at the Raritan Bay Area YMCA at 6 p.m.; and the boys varsity basketball team plays against Pequannock Township High School at 7 p.m. at .
  4. You need to know about recycling: There is curbside pick-up in the township today beginning at 6 a.m.
  5. You need to know about the little planet that could: Believe it or not, the recently-labeled dwarf planet of Pluto has its very own holiday to commemorate the day that American astronomer Clyde W. Tombaugh dscovered Pluto in 1930. The discovery was announced on March 13 and in August 2006, the International Astronomical Union announced that because Pluto's orbit overlaps that of Neptune, it would no longer be considered a planet.
