Finals, Recycling and Solar Panels

And other essential information for Tuesday, June 21, 2011.

The National Weather Service predicts a partly sunny day Tuesday with a high of 86, which means near-perfect weather to celebrate today's weird holiday. To find out more, check out the Five Things You Need to Know Today:

  1. You need to know about recycling: Township residents can take their recycling and compost to the Tanglewood Recycling Center between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m.
  2. You need to know about sign language: Children ages 6 and under can learn American Sign Language through stories, songs, puppets and play at 10 a.m. at the Library of the Chathams.
  3. You need to know about exams: Students at Chatham High School have final exams for Periods 5 and 6 on Tuesday at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., respectively.
  4. You need to know about canceled meetings: The Historic Preservation Commission meeting in Chatham Borough scheduled for Tuesday has been canceled.
  5. You need to know about daylight: June 21 is not only the first official day of summer, it is also National Daylight Appreciation Day, a holiday established to highlighting the benefits and uses of daylight. Besides a source of Vitamin D, capturing energy from daylight with solar panels (as the owners of Liberty Drug in Chatham Borough have done) can help reduce your energy bill and save money.
