Field Hockey, Tennis Teams Win Wednesday Games

Boys cross country team defeated Delbarton and Randolph, but fell to Roxbury.

How did your favorite sports teams do this week?

On Tuesday:

  • The tennis team defeated Mountain Lakes 4-1, bringing their season record to 4-1. Victorious Cougars at their respective positions were:
    • First Singles - Emily Srocynski 
    • Third Singles - Alison Ramsland
    • First Doubles - Julia Edgar and Ashley Perselay
    • Second Doubles - Katie Howard-Johnson and Jess Sullivan
  • The girls soccer team defeated Morristown 5-0. Lina Proska scored three goals in the first half. Kelsey Burke's creativity was central in creating chances for the Cougars: she had two assists, and McCall Moore also assisted in a dominant first half display. In the second half, Franki DeVito scored her first goal of the season with a nice first time shot inside the box, and Moore added a powerful header from Proskas corner in the second half to score the fifth goal. Chatham is now 2 - 1 on the season.
  • The boys soccer team fell to Morristown 4-3. Will Munn scored two goals and Brian Graham scored the final goal on a direct kick. The Cougars look to rebound on Thursday when they travel to play Delbarton at 4 p.m.
  • The JV tennis team defeated Mountain Lakes 10-1.
  • The JV girls soccer team defeated Morristown 3-0. Lindsey Carson opened the scoring 30 minutes into the first half on a feed from Bridget Ballard. Five minutes into the second half, junior Morgan Smith took a long punt from keeper Caroline Viscovich and pushed it past the Morristown goalie to extend the lead to 2-0. Minutes later, Nicole Marsh took a ball from Bridget Ballard and placed it in the lower left corner to close out the scoring. In addition to her big assist, Caroline Viscovich finished the game with six saves.
  • The JV boys soccer team fell to Morristown 2-1.

On Wednesday:

  • The field hockey team defeated Roxbury 3-2.
  • The tennis team defeated Randolph 5-0.
  • The boys cross country team defeated Delbarton and Randolph in the Randolph Invitational with scores of 37-21 and 32-23, respectively. They then fell to Roxbury 42-19.  
  • The field hockey team shot out Randolph 5-0.
  • The JV tennis team defeated Randolph 5-0.
  • The JV field hockey team shot out Randolph 5-0.

The following games are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 13:

  • The boys soccer team travels to Delbarton School for a 4 p.m. game.
  • The tennis team hosts Watchung Hills Regional High School at tennis courts.
  • The girls volleyball team hosts West Essex at 4 p.m.
  • The JV boys soccer team travels to Delbarton School for a 4 p.m. game.
  • The JV tennis team travels to Watchung Hills Regional High for a 4 p.m. game.
  • The JV volleyball team hosts West Essex at 5:30 p.m.
