Chatham Merchants Turn the Lights Blue

Old Man Winter came through with another storm Thursday night, and the wintry weather is set to continue through noon Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Today's Five Things You Need to Know Today column has some suggestions for indoor activities:

  1. You need to know about recycling: Curbside pick-up begins at 6 a.m. Friday in Chatham Township.
  2. You need to know about science: St. Patrick’s School has their Science Fair Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  3. You need to know about the poetry: Chatham High School is holding a poetry festival in the auditorium Friday from 11:40 a.m. through 2:35 p.m. Students will read original poetry and perform music and other creative pieces.
  4. You need to know about spring sports: They begin today with games at 4 p.m. for the baseball, softball, tennis and girls lacrosse teams.
  5. You need to know about Autism: Today begins Autism Awareness Month, and local businesses have lit their establishments with blue lights to help raise awareness.
