A Day for Achievements

And other essential information for Thursday, June 2, 2011.

Chatham residents have a brief break from the heat starthing Thursday, with a high of 78 and winds of about 11 miles an hour--good weather to train for Thursday's wacky holiday in! To find out more, check out the Five Things You Need to Know Today:

  1. You need to know about yoga: Jen Haire teaches Yoga Storytime at the Thursday: 10 a.m. for kids 3 and under, 10:45 a.m. for kids 4 and under and 1:30 p.m. for kids 6 and under.
  2. You need to know about state games: The girls softball team takes on Colonia at , the girls lacrosse team takes on Rumson Fair-Haven at Robbinsville High at 5 p.m. and the boys lacrosse team takes on Summit at Ridge High School at 5 p.m., all in state play.
  3. You need to know about achievement: Students at can show off their achievements at the Outstanding Achievement Award Ceremony at 7 p.m. Thursday.
  4. You need to know about board meetings: The Mayors Wellness Campaign meets at 8 a.m. at the , and the Land & Historic Conservancy Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Chatham Borough Municipal Building.
  5. You need to know about running: Thursday is National Running Day, and while there may not  be an organized running event in Chatham, there is still time to register for the Fishawack Race on June 11. There's a one-mile fun run at 9 a.m. and a 4-mile run at 9:30 a.m. To register, visit www.chathamjaycees.org.
