St. Patrick Church and School Deliver Christmas to Appalachia

Students at St. Patrick School donated dozens of gently used toys for children living in rural poverty in Williamsburg, Kentucky. The drive was organized by Operation Appalachia a ministry of the Parish of St. Patrick Church which has been active for 35 years. Parishioners collect toys each year and Chatham Moving and Storage donates a truck with driver as well as paying for gas to deliver them to Kentucky. Williamsburg, KY is in the Appalachian mountain region of the state. Over 29% of the population of Williamsburg lives below the poverty line.

This year students and parishioners filled a 48 foot moving van which left for KY on November 15. The toys were delivered to The Mulberry Friendship House, which will provide the toys at little or no cost to needy families in time for Christmas.
