Where to Spend Thanksgiving Dinner

Not in the mood to cook? Here's a look at where to eat out in Chatham.

I love to cook for Thanksgiving, but I realize going out for the big meal can be a lot of fun as well. I can think of two instances in the past 10 years when we went out.

The first was in Hawaii. I remember sitting outside in 80-degree weather and eating sliced turkey and stuffing—somehow it didn't feel the same. The food was good but the warm weather was too different for me to think of it as Thanksgiving Day.

Another time, we went out locally as we were flying overseas the next day. I have good memories of that dinner as well; I remember thinking how they are able to churn out so much good food for so many hours.

If you are thinking of taking it easy and going out for Thanksgiving, I have a list of restaurants for you to consider.

Restaurant Serenade (Thanksgiving menu attached as a photo). The restaurant will be serving a three-course meal for $65 per adult, $32 per child 10 and under (does not include gratuity or sales tax). They are open from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Call 973-701-0303 for availability.

For a little more low-key experience, you can make your way to Charlie Browns on 522 Southern Blvd. Charlie Browns announced earlier this month that a number of their locations will be closing, but luckily the Chatham spot was not among them. The restaurant will be open from 11:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. and will be serving turkey with all the fixings. Call 973-822-1800 for more information.

In case you are looking to change it up a bit and go for something different, will be open from noon until 10 p.m. They will have specials, including Thai style turkey, but please call 973-377 3636.

Once you are done with your meal, will be open for drinks after 8 p.m. And yes, guys, they will be showing the football game.

Wherever you end up on Thanksgiving, Chatham Patch wishes you a wonderful day filled with good food and great company.
