Shady Hill Joins Farmers Market Vendors

Pork, chicken and eggs among the goods Shady Hill offers.

The Chatham Borough Farmers Market continues its successful sixth season with a new vendor: Shady Hill Homestead.

Shady Hill is a small-scale farm servcing Hunterdon, Warren and Somerset counties in New Jersey and Northampton and Bucks County in Pennsylvania. Their appearance at the Chatham Borough Farmers Market marks the farm's first time at any farmers market.

According to a statement on Shady Hill's website, the farm initially planned to start selling in farmers market next year, but the long season of Chatham's market created an opening for them to make it in this year.

Products from Shady Hill at this weekend's market will include acorn-finished, natural and antibiotic-free Berkshire Guinea hog pork. "It’s been USDA-inspected and flash frozen in vacuum sealed packs. We’ll be bringing several varieties of sausage, ground pork, loin roasts, pork chops, and shoulder and fresh ham roasts," a statement on Shady Hill's blog reads.

There will also be free-range chicken and eggs available at the market from Shady Hill, and the vendor will accept advance orders for market patrons to pick up from their stand.
