Fresh Jersey Produce at the Farmers’ Market

Melick's Town Farm is one of the Farmers Market's oldest vendors.

If you have been to the Chatham Borough Farmers Market before, you will recognize Melick’s Town Farm.

The farm, a regular vendor at the Famers Market, “started when the market started,” said Rebecca Melick, a partial owner of the family business.

Melick’s Town Farm is the largest fruit grower in central and northern New Jersey, and always has seasonal produce at the Farmers Market. The farm has three locations in New Jersey, and according to their website, “more than 10,000 apple trees and 5,000 peach trees” cover that land.

Of all its products, fruit is the farm’s specialty. “We bring a lot of fruit,” Melick said, “We start with the peaches, plum and nectarines. Starting in August we will have a lot of apples.”

Chatham shoppers can expect other fresh products from Melick's as well. Tomatoes, honey and pies made from the farm’s fruit are just a few of the products this vendor sells.

Melick's Town Farm is a family-owned and run business. Throughout the seasons, customers can go and pick their own fruits, flowers and pumpkins in the fall.

Melick said she keeps returning to the Chatham Borough Famers Market because “it is a great Farmers Market, we have a really good turnout,” Melick said. “That’s really our goal as farmers, selling as much of our things directly to consumers as we can.”

According to the Farmers Market website, Melick’s Town Farm will be at the market every week until November. For more information about the farm, click here.
