Community Health and Resource Fair

Highlighting their open house month, the Senior Center of the Chathams will be hosting a Community Health and Resource Fair on Tuesday Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the gym of the Chatham Township Municipal building, 58 Meyersville Road.  

Sponsored by TD Bank, the event will bring close to 40 vendors and community representatives offering information, free health screenings, free barbecue lunch and entertainment by the Chatham Brass Band. The participants include Assisted Living facilities, Home Care agencies, financial institutions, medical supply agencies, hospitals, representatives from the Chatham Mayor’s Wellness campaign, police and health departments, senior home sale specialists, chiropractor, physical therapists, and healthcare advocates.

All are invited to attend. There will be valuable information for seniors and their families and an opportunity to tour the Senior Center and meet some of the instructors, staff and trustees.

The Senior Center offers door-to-door bus transportation on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will take Chatham Borough or Township residents anywhere in the Chathams, Madison or Green Village. On the second Wednesday of the month, the bus will go to the Short Hills and Livingston Malls. “Van-Go” is available for transportation to the Senior Center, grocery store, doctor’s appointment, hairdresser, bank, restaurant, etc. Please call 973-635-4565 for further information on how to make a reservation for door-to-door rides.          

Senior Services has provided the Chathams and surrounding communities with enrichment activities for the active adult for 21 years. The Center offers exercise classes, cards, games, a book club, movies, a library, special lectures and programs, social events, trips, bridge and art instruction. There are also friendship and support groups for women and a men’s group as well as a very active knitting group. The resource center includes a large selection of materials of interest to seniors and their families.

The Center is located on the lower level of the Chatham Twp Municipal building and is open Monday through Friday from 9:15 a.m to 3 p.m. For further information, please contact the Senior Center at 973-635-4565.
