An Evening With the Stars: A Benefit for Senior Services of the Chathams

An Evening With The Stars, a fundraiser for Senior Services of the Chathams, will be held on May 13 at Westy Self Storage, 15 River Road from 7 to 9:30 pm.

The evening features a telescope viewing, weather permitting, of the moon and Saturn and a Zumba Gold demonstration by Senior Services’ instructor Andrea Pleckaitis.   William Whitehead of Amateur Astronomers, Inc. will give a presentation on the Russian space program.  Wine, hors d’hoeuvres and desserts will be served.

The gift basket raffle portion of the evening will include an elegant and varied mix of prizes donated from local merchants, including a tennis themed basket, a Blue Ray player with a selection of DVD’s donated by Colonial Appliance, a gardening basket donated by the Farm, a coffee themed basket donated by TM Ward Coffee Co. and a pet-themed basket donated by Morris Animal Inn.

Westy Self Storage is donating free storage and use of its truck in a basket valued at $750.

Tickets are $40 in advance and may be purchased online at www.chathamseniorcenter.org or by calling 973 635-4565. Tickets will be available at the door for $45.

Senior Services of the Chathams is a 20-year-old not-for profit whose mission is to keep senior citizens actively engaged in their community.  It runs a senior center, a transportation service for those that don’t drive, support groups and an information and referral service.
