Council Honors Borough Businesswoman

Doris Crater was honored for her contribution to local small businesses and for 'setting the standard' for downtown renovations.

Doris Crater, owner of d.j. crater on Main Street in Chatham Borough, was honored for 30 years as a local successful businesswoman by the borough council on March 25.

A resolution unanimously passed by the council commended Crater for her business, for her contributions to local causes, for her renovation of a historic Main Street building which the resolution said "has set the standard" for such renovations, and for her involvement with American Express' small business efforts to encourage people to shop local, which have brought national attention to Chatham's Main Street.

Mayor Bruce Harris said it gave him particular joy to give Crater this praise as she is a close friend.
