Chatham Store Ready for Bill Parcells, Hundreds of Fans

Legends Gallery event including Lawrence Taylor, Harry Carson will celebrate NY Giants 'glory days.'

Hundreds of football fans are expected to flock to a Chatham sports memorabilia store Saturday afternoon to meet three inductees of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Coach Bill Parcells and players Lawrence Taylor and Harry Carson are scheduled to appear at Legends Gallery on North Passaic Avenue from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

They were with the New York Giants when the team won the 1986 Super Bowl and made famous the celebratory "Gatorade shower."

Legends Gallery co-owner Randy Dembo said the event is "a good way to celebrate the glory days of the team."

Parcells came to coach the Giants in the 1980s when the team was "down in doldrums" and "turned them around," Dembo said. Parcells won two Super Bowl rings with the Giants.

"We're looking forward to a great event and a ton of people," he said.

Having so many Giants fans in one place may lead to grumbling about the current season. So far, the team is 0-6.

Parcells was inducted to the Hall of Fame in August, and the Legends Gallery event is celebrating his induction. Taylor was inducted in 1999, and Carson was inducted in 2006.

Ticket and autograph packages for "The New York Giants Hall of Fame Show" range from $60 to $850. Parking is available in parking lots around Chatham's downtown.

Last September, Legends Gallery hosted a signing with NY Giants quarterback Eli Manning that drew about 1,000 fans.
