Chatham U12 A Baseball Team Advances to District 12 Semis

Great travel season has seen squad go 8-2 overall.

The Chatham U12 A travel baseball team has begun its summer travel season with a bang, going 8-2 overall, while winning all four of its District 12 Cal Ripken games.

Their undefeated record in District 12 pool play has them playing in Sunday morning's semifinal game for a chance to advance to the NJ state tournament.

The team is led by the outstanding overall play of its shortstop Mac Bredahl, and the power hitting of third baseman Peter Demaria, who already has three home runs this season.

The pitching staff is spearheaded by the team's ace, Billy Gyves, with outstanding pitching also coming from southpaw Matt Stamford, Matt Karpowic, Will Covino, and Thomas Winter.

Second baseman Charlie Bergman helps anchor the rest of the infielders, who include utility man Clay Delsandro, first baseman Ethan Glasgow, and clean up hitter Ryan Chase. Mac Schelling has been outstanding behind the plate, while outfielder Chloe Blanc has helped Matt Karpowic and Thomas Winter make up a very solid outfield.

The squad has a busy month ahead of them that includes a six day trip to Cooperstown, where they will face off against other travel teams from all over the country.  Bobby Briganti will be joining the sith grade group in Cooperstown, and has filled in nicely when the team has been short due to injuries.
