Students Return Ready for New School Year

Chatham schools are back in session.

Monday was the first day of school for the approximately 4,000 students enrolled in the School District of the Chathams' six schools. New crosswalks and recently paved pathways were in place to help students walk to school safely.

For Jill Gihorski, who became principal at Chatham Middle School in January, there was the added excitement of kicking off a new school year as principal for the first time.

Gihorski welcomed students with Frank Wulff, the new safety and security director at the school, as they arrived.

"They're ready," Gihorski said.
