Win Tickets to See 3 Hit-Making Songwriters in Concert

Chip Taylor, Maia Sharp and Dan Navarro come to the Sanctuary Concert Series Saturday.

Residents can win tickets to see the Sanctuary Concert Series present three award-winning songwriters in concert Saturday to sing their biggest hits — and tell the stories behind them.

This special performance, titled Songwriters-in-the-Round, features the writers of all-time favorites such as "Wild Thing," "We Belong" and "I Don't Want Anything to Change" performing in the same concert Saturday.

Sanctuary Concerts head Scott Sheldon said, "These three performers have dozens of hit songs and lifetimes of stories to tell," and they are sure to tell them this weekend.

Chip Taylor has 50 years years as a professional songwriter under his belt. He penned hits recorded by Janis Joplin, The Hollies, Linda Ronstadt and Ike and Tina Turner. From "Try (Just a Little Bit Harder)" to "Wild Thing," the songs of his career are beloved by generations of music fans.

Since Maia Sharp landed her first music gig in 1993, she has has written for some of music's most famous names. Sharp has worked with Cher, Carole King, Bonnie Raitt and The Dixie Chicks, and was Art Garfunkel's songwriting and touring partner for years.

Dan Navarro's songwriting career soared since he wrote the Grammy-nominated "We Belong," recorded by Pat Benatar. His other songs have been recorded by The Bangles, Jackson Browne, Keb’ Mo’, Dave Edmunds, The Tempatations, Dionne Warwick and others. Those with children might recognize his voice from movies such as "Happy Feet," "The Lorax," "Rio" and "The Emperor's New Groove."

The concert begins at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township. Admission is $25 and includes dessert and beverages at intermission. To purchase tickets contact the box office at (973) 376-4946 or boxoffice@sanctuaryconcerts.org.
