Women Who Write First Annual Writers Conference Women Who Write First Annual Writers Conference will be held on Saturday, September 17th, at the Madison Community House, 20 Cook Avenue in Madison NJ. starting at 8:45 AM. The Conference will offer three simultaneous tracks: prose, poetry and writing for children. Dr. Susan Osborne with The Writers House, who is an award winner, teacher and author will offer a hands on workshop to prose writers in the morning, and Michele Cameron, author of The Fruit of Her Hands, and Judith Lindburgh, author of The Thrall’s Tale and creator of The Writer’s Circle Workshops for children and adults will offer a workshop in the afternoon. For poets, Anastasia Werner, a resident of Brooklyn, NY who conducts workshops through Emerging Voices, will offer a poetry “Layering” workshop in the morning and “Poem Play” workshop in the afternoon. Children’s writers will hear Marietta ZacKer of the Nancy Galt Literary agency speak in the morning, and editors, Katherine Harrison and Emily Seife, editors with Alfred A. Knopf, an imprint of Random House, and Scholastic, respectively will talk about the unique challenges of writing for kids as opposed to adults and then speak to the different skills a writer must draw upon to write Picture Books, Middle Grade and YA in the afternoon. In addition, all attendees will be able to hear Isabelle Felix, who is with the NJ Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, speak on the legal issues of e-publishing. Women Who Write is a New-Jersey based, non-profit collective of about 90 women writers ages 18 and over of all genres, from all walks of life. Published and unpublished, professional and amateur, our membership is comprised of writers in various stages of their careers. New writers are welcomed as openly as experienced authors.
