Walking Tour of Chatham's Past at Fair Mount Cemetery

From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, the Chatham Historical Society will host a walking tour through Fair Mount Cemetery.  The tour offers insights into the history of  Chatham and stories about some of the men and women who lived here in the past – ministers, educators, farmers, doctors, librarians and shopkeepers. Volunteers will guide you through the cemetery, where you can stop to listen as eleven "actors" in costume offer monologues portraying specific historic individuals near the sites of their final resting places.

Street parking will be on Hillside Ave. and Fairmount Ave. Tours begin at each location as groups gather and last 45 minutes. Refreshments will be served.

Severely inclement weather will cancel the event. Call 973-635-5953 until noon on Oct. 17 to verify. A donation of $5 per family is requested.
