The Senior Center of the Chathams will be traveling to Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square Pennsylvania on Wednesday, July 18 (rain date July 19). Longwood Gardens will be highlighting a new garden-wide exhibition by British lighting artist Bruce Munro, “Light: Installations by Bruce Munro.” It will feature seven large-scale outdoor installations, two installations within Longwood’s grand Conservatory, and a small collection of illuminated sculptures in Longwood’s historic Music room.

The group will be taking an hour-long guided tour then will have sufficient time to leisurely explore the rest of the Gardens and have lunch on their own in the cafe. There are scheduled fountain shows throughout the day in addition to the 1077 acres of gardens, woodlands, meadows, and a 4.5 acre Conservatory.

For those who need some assistance, there are electric scooters to rent for $15 or wheelchairs for $4.

On the way home the group will make a short stop in Historic Kennett Square with unique quaint shops.

The bus will leave the Senior Center parking lot at 8:15 am and return about 7 pm.

The cost of the trip excluding lunch is $45. Payment is due before July 2. For further information and reservations, please call the Senior Center at (973)635-4565.
