Chatham Residents to Perform at Paper Mill

The "New Voices of 2012" production will show on Aug. 3 and 4.

Three residents of the Chathams will be showcased in this summer's "New Voices of 2012" concert at the in August.

Sarah Ethridge, Daniel Marconi and Charlie Thomson were among over 110 students from the area accepted into the playhouse's highly selective Summer Musical Theatre Conservatory.

Students ages 10 to 18 who are accepted into the conservatory attend five weeks of intensive classes, which include musical theater performance, acting, dance and improvisation. They also attend workshops led by professional directors, actors and casting agents.

According to a press statement from the Paper Mill Playhouse, the conservatory's "rigorous [program allows] students to enhance their individual performance potential while developing a broad base of theater experience and knowledge."

The program's culmination is the New Voices Concert, which also includes numerous winners and nominees of the 2012 Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards who won scholarships to attend the Conservatory.

Carrie Rubino, Paper Mill's Education Program manager, said this year's show "contains many solos and duets, but my favorites are the full company numbers. ... It’s such strong ensemble work; to hear a company of over 100 kids sing in perfect harmony is breathtaking.”

The Chatham natives and other local talents will perform in the "New Voices of 2012: It's Our Time" concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 and at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4. Tickets range from $25 to $45 and may be purchased by calling (973) 376-4343, online or at the box office.
