Wine & Music a Perfect Combination

Benefit event one of our picks for this weekend.

Wine and music. Sounds like a nice combination, right? This weekend, an event that will benefit the New Philharmonic of New Jersey will give you the opportunity to taste some great wines while listening to some equally good music. We've also provided some options to start Mardi Gras a little early, and to help support some local high schools.

Here are this week's picks:

1. Benefit Wine Tasting
Where/When: 1 Giralda Farms; Saturday, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Why Go: Some great wines and entertainment to benefit the New Philharmonic of New Jersey. The talents of jazz pianist Jerry Vezza will be on display.
Pricing: $50 in advance; $55 at the door

Where/When: Morristown Community Theatre; Saturday, 8 p.m.
Why Go: It's the Mayo Center for the Performing Arts' annual Mardi Gras celebration, and Grammy winners BeauSoleil’s will be performing with Big Chief Monk Boudreaux & The Mardi Gras Indians.
Pricing: Ranges from $42-67

3. Rummage Sale
Where/When: ; Saturday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Why Go: You never know what great finds are available, and it goes toward the Dodgers Class of 2013.
Pricing: Free to enter; donations greatly appreciated

4. Guys and Dolls
Where/When: ; Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: Chatham High School students have been working hard and are ready to display their talents while performing the Broadway classic.
Pricing: $12 for adults; $10 for students

5. Fun Fair and Tricky Tray
Where/When: Eastlake Elementary School (Parsippany); Saturday, 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Why Go: For you tricky tray fanatics out there, here is another chance to win some great prizes. For those looking for a good time for the family, the fun fair offers food, craft booths, and fun games for all ages.
Pricing: Will vary depending on how many game and tricky tray tickets are purchased.
