Twp. Fire Department Accepting Christmas Trees

Chatham Disposal will collect trees in a curbside collection on Jan. 12.

Chatham Township residents have three ways of disposing of their Christmas trees this year.

As usual, Chatham Disposal, which does curbside waste pickup for most residents in the township, will collect Christmas trees on the second Saturday in January. This year, that's Jan. 12.

If you don't want to wait that long, however, there are other options.

The Chatham Township Fire Department will accept Christmas trees through Jan. 12. Trees can be left at the department's River Road Headquarters at 495 River Rd. between the two grey sheds in the back of the parking lot.

Discarded trees left at the department will be taken to Island Beach State Park for the rebuilding of the sand dunes damaged during Hurricane Sandy.
