POLL: Will Monday Be Halloween or "Hallowon't"?

We ask parents if it's easier to go trick-or-treating on the day of Halloween, or over the weekend instead.

Last week we told you that many municipalities around the country have questioned whether they should designate a particular evening for trick-or-treating when Halloween falls during the week. You voted by an overwhelming margin — 82 percent — that there is no substitute for trick-or-treating on Halloween (see poll results below.)

The early winter snowfall, though, may have changed your mind. Chatham officials say there are too many streets with downed power lines or tree branches to make trick-or-treating safe.

"We were concerned about the children [on Halloween] going to dark houses with trees all over, wires all over," said Chatham Borough Mayor Nelson Vaughan. "I've spoken with [Chatham Township Mayor] Nicole Hagner and [School Superintendent] Dennis Fyffe and they agreed trick-or-treating should be postponed until Friday."

Previously the borough and township declined to designate an official night for trick-or-treating, but after the snowstorm both municipalities have named Friday, Nov. 4 as the night to knock on your neighbor's door for candy.

So now, we want you to tell us: Is it safe to go trick-or-treating? Will it be the same celebrating four days later? Will you even bother going this year? Will it be Halloween or "Hallo-won't"?
