Plans for Fourth Annual Green Fair Taking Shape

Committee expects 25 to 30 vendors and more than 200 people at Sept. 24 event.

With about six weeks to go, the fourth annual Green Fair of the Chathams is starting to take shape.

The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, at Reasoner Park by the gazebo and in the north parking lot of the train station.

The Green Fair will have 25 to 30 vendors, according to Green Fair committee member John Bitar, and there will also be activities for children. Bitar said he thinks this year's fair could be the biggest one yet, and he anticipates it attracting more than 200 people.

"We're going to have vendors that sell 'green' products as well as ideas to help live a 'greener' lifestyle, that's our theme this year," Bitar said. "[There will also be] food vendors and activities for the kids, there's things to do as well as things to buy."

Committee member Pat Collington said Pascarella Brothers Deli will have a booth at the fair for breakfast and lunch. She said there will also be a booth with planting and potting projects for kids, an event for adults and children regarding pesticides and an event about recycling.

Bitar said Whole Foods will be sponsoring a pumpkin painting activity for children, the Girl Scouts will be promoting an environmental activity and Peapack-Gladstone Bank will be have a paper shredder on hand. He went on to say that the schedule isn't final as there will be more vendors and events added before the fair.

There will also be a yet-to-be determined band playing live music, according to Bitar.
