Music and Entertainment at 2013 Fishawack

The threat of rain Saturday has not dampened the spirits of Fishawack Festival organizers--well, not much.

If it should rain, some of the children's events will have to be removed as they could pose a danger, but organizers say vendors will still be set up, and the entertainment will go on undisturbed by weather.

The Chatham Borough Farmers' Market will begin their annual Sunflower Contest starting at the Fishawack festival this year. Residents interested in competiting to grow the largest sunflower can stop by the market's booth at Fishawack and take home sunflower seeds, or a seedling plant.

The flowers will be brought in for competition at one of the markets later this season, and the owner of the largest sunflower will win dinner for two at Charley's Aunt.

Entertainment this year begins with a demonstration by Dance Innovations at 10:45 a.m. at Reasoner Park in front of the Chatham Borough gazebo.

After Dance Innovations, students from World Champion's K Tae Kwondo will show off what they have learned in their classes this year beginning at 11:30 a.m.

As always, the Mayor's Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony begins at noon, with awards for those volunteers who have served with distinction over the past year, and of course the Volunteer of the Year award.

The Chatham Community Band begins their annual Fishawack performance at 12:30 p.m., followed by students from the School of Rock from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The 2013 Fishawack theme is “Fishawack Festival celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Chatham Police Department.” The festival is sponsored by Madison YMCA, PipeWorks Services and Klas Electrical.
