Jaycees Open Up for Christmas [VIDEO]

Christmas trees are for sale at the corner of Main Street and Brooklake Road.

For the 44th year, the Chatham Jaycees (Junior Chamber of Commerce) have opened up their Christmas tree shop for locals to come and buy their trees.

Funds raised by the Christmas tree sale support the Jaycees scholarship, worth several thousand dollars, to at least one graduating  student.

The Jaycees also use the money to support local charities and causes. This year, Bill Heap told the Chatham Borough Council, they intend to donate funds to the Chatham Borough Shade Tree Commission to replace trees destroyed in both and the .

So far this year, the Jaycees have donated "nearly $25,000 to such organizations as the Chatham Library, local church youth groups, scouts, the and the ," according to a press release.

Hours for the Christmas tree sale are approximately 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the week, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekends.

Evan Bressler, Sean Devine, Andrew Ziegler, Sean Smiley, Will Carey, Sean Foy and Bryan Heu from local Boy Scout Troop 8 helped haul trees to the lot the weekend after Thanksgiving to prepare for the sale.
