Get to Know Your Local Budget This Week

School and municipal budgets coming up this week.

Each Monday we welcome you back to the work week with a look at what to expect in the Chathams. From content you'll find on Patch as the week goes on to community activities, here's what you need to know this week:

1) You need to know about the school budget: The School District of the Chathams will present the 2013-14 school budget Monday night. We'll bring you coverage of the meeting, and further details of what happens when the school board meets.

2) You need to know about the Chatham Borough budget: Administrator Robert Falzarano will present the proposed 2013 budget for Chatham Borough Monday. The tax levy is expected to rise between 1.5 and 2.5 percent, according to Councilman James Lonergan. Check back for full coverage of the meeting.

3) You need to know about the township budget: Administrator Thomas E. Ciccarone presented a budget with a tax levy decrease on Feb. 14, and it will go up for introduction Thursday.

4) You need to know about school elections: The filing deadline is Monday for those wishing to run for the Board of Education. We'll let you know what names to expect on ballot in April.
