Get Green, Get Charitable ... Get Out!

Take in a great show, or pick up a new family pet--you can do it all in the area this weekend!

If you have nothing to do this weekend, you must not be paying attention. From green grocers to blood drives, from paintings to yoga, from fire trucks to cool concerts, there really is somethign for everyone in and around Chatham this weekend.

When/Where: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Railroad Plz & Fairmount Ave, Chatham
Why go: The Mayors Wellness Campaign hosts their second week of their Health Fair, the Chatham Emergency Squad will have a blood drive, and you can still get your favorite fresh vegetables from Jersey Fresh vendors.

When/Where: 9 a.m. Saturday,
When/Where: 9 a.m., Reasoner Park, Fairmount Ave & Firehouse Plz, Chatham
Why go: Bring your green enthusiasm--and any recyclables, including books!--to the 2012 Green Fair of the Chathams. You'll be able to scope out electric cars, learn ways to "green" up your home and yard, and of course get a tour of Dominic Rizzow's amazing animal menagerie.

When/Where: 10 a.m. Saturday, , 55 Main St, Chatham
Why go: Bond with other parents over the joys and sorrows of parenthood.
Cost: $10


When/Where: 6 p.m. Saturday,
When/Where: 7 p.m. Saturday, Reasoner Park, 2 Firehouse Plz, Chatham
Why go: Because there's only one location better than the Madison Hotel, and that's out under the stars. Support efforts of the Chatham Athletic Foundation with a ticket to their annual gala.

When/Where: 8 p.m. Saturday,
When/Where: Noon Sunday, 625 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover
Why go: Because for an animal lover, entertainment does not get better than this. There will be a "Silly Pet Tricks" contest, a doggie beauty contest, a fashion show, prizes for the best kisser and fastest tail-wagger. You'll be able to find your new best friend at the Pet Adoption Expo, or get your dog fitted with a microchip for a fee.
