Fishawack Is On, Rain or Shine

Organizers say Chatham Borough's biggest festival will be on for Saturday.

As Fishawack Festival organizers unveil the 2013 T-shirt, the Chatham Chamber of Commers and Chatham Jaycees both say Fishawack events, the festival and the race, will both go on rain or shine Saturday.

The races begin at 9 a.m. with the one-mile fun run, followed by the four-mile race. Both start from the southern parking lot of the Chatham New Jersey Transit station.

Brian Hart of the Jaycees, who takes the lead on publicity for the Fishawack Race, said, "I believe the forecast has changed and improved. It actually looks like [Saturday] will be perfect running weather."

We hope so!

Festival booths will be set up along Firehouse Plaza, the northern end of the train station parking lot, Fairmount Plaza and South Passaic Avenue.

The usual Children's Events have been canceled, because the wet grass from rain Thursday and Friday made Memorial Park unsafe for the rides.

The entertainment, food vendors, volunteer booths and stores will all still be open and ready for business Saturday.

And don't forget to look for Chatham Patch! We'll be walking around the festival collecting digital Father's Day cards, so make sure to find us if you would like to participate and share a special lesson your dad taught you.
