Nature Journaling at The Great Swamp Outdoor Center

Fall is just around the corner and school is in full swing and the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center has a unique program for children ages of 7 to 11. If your child loves the outdoors and loves to write or draw, or just be outside, then this is the program for them.

Do you remember what you saw on your last hike? Every outdoor experience is different, and it’s not always easy to remember each thing you spot when you’re out there. Nature is constantly changing, and this time of year those changes are vividly evident. A great way to keep track of the plants and animals that you encounter or the subtle changes in nature is to keep a nature journal.

So don’t miss out on our Nature Journaling program. We will introduce children to the benefits of keeping a journal, how to interact with nature in creative ways, and offer them time to sharpen their observation, writing, and drawing skills. We will walk the trails and take time to record our observations in the journals that we provide for you to take home!
