CBEC Passaic River Trail Clean-Up

The Chatham Borough Environmental Commission has scheduled a clean-up for the path along the Passaic River on Saturday, November 19, from 9 am to Noon.  The group will conduct trash clean-up, trail mulching and light pruning along the trails near the Passaic.

Volunteers are most welcome and appreciated.  The group will meet at 9 am at Shepperd Kollock Park, off Parrott Mill Road, rain or shine.

“We’ve had a lot of heavy rains and flooding this year, so the path along the Passaic needs restoration,” said John Tancredi, Chair of the Chatham Borough Environmental Commission.

“Everyone is welcome to help clean up the trails,” said Environmental Commissioner Ruth Philipson Dekker.  “Volunteers should wear long pants, long sleeves and gloves.”

Children volunteers, with accompanying adult supervision, are welcome.

The November 19 event is the second trail clean-up sponsored by the Chatham Borough Environmental Commission in 2011.  On May 14, 2011, CBEC volunteers and Boy and Girl Scouts laid wood chips on trails at Shepperd Kollock Park and around Kelly Pond.
