Cancer Survivors Embrace Fitness, Friendships at YMCA Livestrong Program

Madison Area YMCA celebrates achievements of first graduating class.

The Madison Area YMCA is celebrating the achievements of its first Livestrong at the YMCA graduating class.

The 12-week program gives cancer survivors opportunities to engage in physical and social activities focused on strengthening the whole person.

“The program is designed to suit your needs on an individual basis,” said Michele Bass, a two-time breast cancer survivor and graduate of the program who shared her story during the graduation ceremony. “A plan is put into place and goals are set. The staff works to guide you through the process. The best part was forming new relationships with others that were walking down the same path. It was comforting to know that I was not alone."
