Borrow Books on Your iPad or iPhone

The library continues their seminars to teach patrons to borrow books electronically.

Most patrons know the  and the Morris Automated Information Network (MAIN) county library system hold thousands of books, audiobooks, movies and CDs in their buildings.

They also have1,232 books that you can't see on the shelves—electronic books for iPads, iPhones, Kindles, Nooks or laptop computers.

Jay Chatterjee, the head of reference at the library, arranged for several demonstrations to teach patrons how to download e-books onto electronic readers. Mike Skarra, an instructor at the Adult School of the Chathams, Madison and Florham Park, will teach classes on how to download books from the library website.

The class for using iPads and iPhones to borrow the library's ebooks will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Chatterjee said the Library of the Chathams also "buy[s] extra titles when we see that we have several patrons with holds on a particular titles. These extra titles are for Chatham patrons only."

Chatham residents and other library patrons can sign up for the class by calling the library at (973) 635-0603, or by stopping by the Circulation Desk.

Among the e-books available through the website are recent nonfictions such as "Catherine the Great" by Robert K. Massie and best-sellers from The New York Times, such as "The Tiger's Wife" by Téa Obreht and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" by Stieg Larsson.
