Madison High School students last weekend sorted 620 coats that were dropped off in a donation bin at the Madison Area YMCA.

They sorted the sorted men's, women's and children's coats and delivered them to a Jersey Cares distribution site, where agencies with requests for coats can pick them up.

Community members donated the coats as part of the ongoing 18th Jersey Cares Coat Drive, which runs until Feb. 1.

The Madison drop-off location is organized by Elena and Gus Haralampoudis.

Within 2 1/2 hours last Saturday, three carloads of coats were loaded and transported.

The Madison coat bin is in the lobby of the Madison Area YMCA until February. The Madison YMCA is located at 111 Kings Road. Hours are 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
