Sunday Concert Series @ Long Hill Library

The Long Hill Township Library heralds Spring by inviting you to enjoy your Sunday afternoons with music! The Wharton Music Center kicks off its Library Concert Series at Long Hill on Sunday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. The Long Hill Township Library located is at 917 Valley Road in Gillette.

The concert for Sunday, March 9 @ 2:30 is Bolling Suite Sunday: A Combination of Classical and Jazz by the Great Claude Bolling. Diana Charos Reilly, flute, is joined by Nate White, bass, Chap Ostrander, drums, and David Davis, piano.  The concert, free and open to the public, is sponsored in part by the Frank and Lydia Bergen Foundation.

Diana Charos Reilly, an alumna of the New Jersey Youth Symphony, is the founder and music director of the New Jersey Youth Symphony Flute Choir and Flute Forum. A graduate of the Juilliard pre-college division, Ms. Reilly holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Hartt School of Music and continued her graduate studies at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Additionally, Ms. Reilly furthered her training at Ithaca College and Oberlin Conservatory. Ms. Reilly has been featured on numerous recordings including Jack the Ripper, Sleeping Beauty, and Rapunzel, which premiered in 1999 at the Papermill Playhouse.

Ms. Reilly and her piano quartet will perform the music of Claude Bolling (b. 1930), renowned jazz pianist, composer, and arranger. Born in Cannes, France, Bolling studied at the Nice Conservatory and in Paris, and is known for his prolific contribution to film music and his crossover classical collaborations with such artists as Jean-Pierre Rampal, Pinchas Zukerman, and Yo-Yo Ma. Bolling’s Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio, a mix of Baroque symmetry and modern swing, is one of his most popular compositions, maintaining a position on the Billboard Top 40 for over a decade.

• Zodiac, Sunday, May 4 @ 2pm. A mix of classic and pop rock from Long Hill’s own Jacob Lesser of Gillette, Lucas Mammone of Stirling & Jack Melillo of Millington. Sponsored By Long Hill Township Library.
