Pedal For A Cause!

(Madison, NJ) March 10, 2014 – The Madison Area YMCA’s LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a cancer survivors’ program, and St. Baldrick’s, an international childhood cancer charity, will hold a 3-hour Spinathon for adults on Sunday, March 30, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to benefit LIVESTRONG at the YMCA and the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Participants may register at the Madison Area YMCA Welcome Center. The Spinathon is $20 per hour. All proceeds donated to the event will be split 50/50 to help support the St. Baldrick Foundation and the Madison Area YMCA’s LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program.

The St. Baldrick Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long, healthy lives.

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA supports cancer survivors through its free initiative that provides opportunities to engage in physical and social activities focused on strengthening the whole person. Survivors are encouraged to come as they are, no matter what stage of wellness they are in. The Madison Area YMCA’s program began in September.

The 12-week, research-based program brings together cancer survivors and YMCA staff trained in cancer care to achieve goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; improving confidence and self-esteem; and ultimately practicing a healthy lifestyle, not only as a part of recovery but as a way of life.
