The free trial membership also includes unlimited use of the Fitness Center, open lap and family swimming, open gym and open play in Kids Central, the Y’s indoor playground for children.

Anyone who joins the Y during the Open House Week with a new Adult, Young Adult, Family, Senior Adult or Senior Family membership will receive one month of free membership, the initiation fee waived plus $50 Y bucks that may be used toward classes and/or babysitting.

Additionally, visitors are invited to learn more about the Madison Area YMCA’s LiveStrong at the YMCA program that begins this month that supports cancer survivors. A new, free initiative that provides opportunities to engage in physical and social activities, the program focuses on strengthening the whole person. The Cancer Tribute Wall, a brightly painted yellow column outside of the Fitness Center, is dedicated to people who have been affected by cancer in any way. All are welcome to participate by adding the names of loved ones to the Cancer Tribute Wall.

Did you know that in their first year of life, the average American baby will use 3,000 disposable diapers, which costs approximately $600! Babies are not the only ones in need of diapers. Many elderly and people who are disabled also require diapers. The Madison Area YMCA’s Teen Leaders Club is teaming up with Child And Family Resources for Operation: Diaper Drop. From September 16-27, unopened packages of all types of disposable diapers, including infant through adult sizes, may be dropped off at the Family Center and the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center. These diapers will be distributed to over 1,000 individuals in need in Morris County. For more information, please contact Emily Galbraith, Youth and Teen Director at egalbraith@madisonymca.org.

Special events, activities and demonstrations from different fitness and program areas will be held throughout the week including a table tennis demonstration. Chris Lehman will showcase his talent of playing with random objects on Saturday, September 21, at 2:30 p.m.

Don’t miss this free week of fitness, fun and a chance to discover the Madison Area Y with friends and family.
