Late Fall 2013 Registration for Classes at the Madison Area YMCA

The Madison Area YMCA 2013 Late Fall session begins Monday, November 18, with an exciting lineup of new classes available to members and non-members. The schedule includes classes in various areas for all ages from Parent/Child to Adult. 

 

Priority Member Registration begins Tuesday, November 5, at 7:30 p.m. Registration for members is on-going, both online and in person. Special advantages for Madison Area YMCA members include early access to all Y programs and the ability to register for classes online with the Madison Y’s real-time online registration system.

New Sports and Gymnastics classes:

 

Tumble Tots is for the 2.5 to 3.5 year old who is almost ready for our preschool drop off program but not totally potty trained or ready for an hour class. For 30 minutes, these little gymnasts will participate in a short group warm up and stretch and rotate through two of the gymnastics circuits while learning listening skills and strength and coordination exercises. Please note: parents are required to remain in the hallway outside the Gymnastics Center for the duration of the class.

 

Triple Play is for 3.5 to 5 year olds who would like to play three programs in just one class: This 1 ½ class offers ½ hour of gymnastics in the Gymnastics Center, ½ hour of crafting in the craft room and ½ hour of sports instruction. Instructors will bring children from class to class.

 

Preschool soccer for 4 to 6 year olds helps develop basic foot control skills needed to play. Focus will be on teaching trapping, dribbling, passing and shooting skills.

 

Rumble (Run & Tumble) has two class offerings: 1st and 2nd graders run and tumble together; 3rd, 4th and 5th graders run and tumble together. Children start out in the Gymnastics Center for a half hour to learn the basics of gymnastics instruction and then go to the gymnasium for a half hour of assorted sports and games!

 

Y-Winners Indoor Soccer in the Rookie Division is for kindergarteners and 1st graders. This class is designed for the child who loves the game of soccer and wants to play it semi-competitively during the indoor season. Each week, children learn a brief introduction to a new skill or an opportunity to hone their craft.

 

Y-Winners Indoor Soccer Hall of Fame Division offers 2nd graders and 3rd graders the opportunity to play competitive indoor soccer and prepare for the upcoming spring season. Children will be placed on blended teams and compete weekly against other Y-Winner teams.

 

Sports Conditioning offers 2nd -5th graders who are in the off-season of their sport to get ready for their upcoming season. They will develop their agility, speed, endurance and strength.

 

Sports Sampler classes for kindergarteners through 5th graders allows children to play a competitive and fun sport or game without the stress, cost or travel of an organized league. Sports included are basketball, indoor soccer, floor hockey, Star Wars Dodge Ball, Head It or Catch It, Hit It or Kick It, Primal Scream, Kickball, and more!

 

New Performing Arts and Enrichment classes:

 

Look at Me, Now I'm 3! is the perfect class to follow up Totally Two's. In this drop-off class, 3 year olds will gain independence as they continue to develop listening and fine motor skills. We’ll explore fun themes and activities perfect for 3 year olds.

 

Art Studio 1 for 7 to10 year olds gives students a chance to explore elements of art including line, shape, color, texture and much more while working with all types of art mediums.

 

Hip Hop Choreography for 7 to 12 year olds is a class that will teach students popular Hip Hop dances and the basic techniques of Hip Hop choreography. Students will have the opportunity create their own dances and become the choreographer! Note: Students must be enrolled in a Hip Hop class to participate.

 

Drawing 1 for 8 to 12 year olds teaches students how to draw subjects using drawing techniques such as shape, shading, texture, perspective & dimension.

 

Ballet III/Pre Pointe for 8 to 12 year olds is a 75-minute class where students will be challenged with more advanced techniques and will learn strengthening exercises to prepare for pointe shoes.  Students must be currently enrolled in a ballet class and have instructor’s permission for registration.

  

Create and Cook for 6th through 12th graders is a one-hour class where kids make some awesome recipes while learning cooking techniques and skills. The class also provides an opportunity to work on weekly art projects.

 

Teen Art Studio for 6th through 12th graders is a one hour class that where teens will explore element of art style including pointillism, surrealism, cubism and much more while working with all types of art mediums.

 

New Fitness Classes for adults include several TRX Suspension Training classes:

 

TRX Body Blast X-press is a class that builds overall strength and endurance using this (HIT) high intensity Suspension Training program. Body Blast is a non-stop workout set to music, where you spend the entire time using the TRX.

 

TRX Circuit Training challenges you with this fast-paced workout combination of both TRX systems, cardio drills with a combination of skipping ropes, ViPR, box jumps, battle ropes, medicine ball and boxing. Timed sets will keep your heart rate pumping as you power through the reps at your own pace.

 

TRX Body Blast builds overall strength and endurance. It is a non-stop workout set to music, where you spend the entire time using the TRX.

 

TRX Fusion combines our two flagship products, the TRX Suspension Trainer and Kettlebells. Bringing together hardcore bodyweight training and intense rotational movements, you get the ultimate 55-minute, total body workout.

 

TRX Personal Training is a great way to start TRX. Improve your technique and we will set a specific program designed especially for you.

 

TRX Private Groups (2-4 persons) is a great way to get into shape with family and friends!
