Kirby Preschoolers and FDU students Raise Money for Hurricane Sandy Victims

Madison Area YMCA’s F.M. Kirby Children’s Center preschoolers worked with Fairleigh Dickinson University Service Learning students for three months to design and execute a project that benefitted Hurricane Sandy victims in Union Beach.

The college students and preschoolers jointly decided to design and produce notecards with happy, uplifting pictures drawn by the children. The notecards were then offered for sale in ribbon-tied packages to parents at the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center with sales assistance from Kirby Kindergarten and school-age children. The successful sale raised enough money to assist relocated and financially struggling families to send their children to summer camp.
