Glorious Garden Tour Coming June 7th

             Celebrate the season with a look at six private gardens in Chatham and Harding Township. The Glorious Garden Tour and More is a benefit garden tour to be held on Saturday, June 7 from 10 am to 3 pm. with a kickoff cocktail party on Friday, June 6th from 6:30 to 9 pm. It is presented by the board and friends of Senior Services Center of the Chathams.

           The cocktail party is a new feature this year and will be held in a beautiful historic Chatham home with antique vehicles on display. Weichert Realtors, Chatham, is the sponsor of the cocktail party.

            The Glorious Garden Tour, sponsored by Fellowship Senior Living and Merrill Lynch’s the Harbor Group, will occur the next day and features five gardens.  One Harding Township garden features a relaxing pool and patio with many perennials including roses, daisies and peonies. There is a striking a 40 foot climbing hydrangea.

             Another home has sycamore trees lining the driveway of an LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) gold home featuring the latest in green design, sustainability, and water and energy efficiency. 

            A third historic Victorian property features mature trees, shrubs and perennials but the real treat is seen from the backyard abloom with lilies, roses, peonies and hydrangeas.

            Advance reservations can be made at the Senior Center of the Chathams or online at www.chathamseniorcenter.org.  Reservation forms are also available at the Library of the Chathams, Main St, and TM Ward Coffee, 7 South Passaic, both in Chatham.  The cost is $30 for the garden tour and $35 for the cocktail party. On the day of the garden tour, the cost will be $40 for walk-ins. 

              Proceeds from the tour will be used to support the programs and services of Senior Services of the Chathams, a 24-year-old not for profit serving the needs of those 60 and older through a Senior Center, a bus service, and an information and referral service.  For more information, call 973 635-4565.
