Chatham TWP Historical Society Installs 9th Historic Marker

Showing off the Historical Society of Chatham Township's latest marker are from left to right Bailey Brower Township Committeeman, Nicole O'Connell home owner, Caroline Knott, Patricia Wells Co-President and Kenneth Hetrick  Treasurer.The marker recognizes the Philip Cockrem Farm located on Green Village Road.  Philip Cockrem was a farmer, a wagon maker and a major contributor to the building of the Green Village Methodist Church.  He was also the second postmaster of Green Village from 1863-1869. More recent residents of the home were Helen and Arthur Fenske.  Helen was instrumental in the fight to defeat the Great Swamp Jet Port. The markers are part of an ongoing effort by the Society to raise the local awareness of the area's historical richness. Contributions to continue the project are welcome and checks can be sent to the Historical Society of Chatham Township Attn: Kenneth Hetrick Treasurer, P.O.
