Calling All High School Athletes

Now is the time for off season training to help prepare for your spring sport! In order to maximize your performance during your season, you have to dedicate yourself during the off season. Conditioning, strength training, flexibility prep and proper nutrition will all lead to a better performance during the season. But not any training program will do. You have to make sure your training program is appropriate for you!

Megan Furstoss, Director of Inception Sports Performance in Madison, says that training programs need to be personalized. “Many times you see programs that are created for the general athletic population or per sport.  An athlete’s training program should take a multitude of factors into consideration to make sure the program is appropriate not only for their sport but also for their position and personal biomechanical make up”.

An athlete’s training program doesn’t end when you leave the gym.  “Proper nutrition and recovery are a huge part of training” says Coach Troy Spinetta of Inception Sports Performance.  “The physical part of training for your sport is just half of the equation. You need to refuel and rest appropriately in order to optimize your training program”.
